Soil / Lithology

Information on the geologic setting is stored in both the boring and stratigraphy data tables. Boring log data is intended for representation of the detailed lithologic and soils data as logged during the construction of a boring or well. Stratigraphy is an interpretation of the geologic and/or hydrologic units that are of interest to the hydrogeologist. Whereas fence diagrams and 3d geologic models can be constructed from Stratigraphy, the boring log data is presented as a direct visual interpretation of the geologist's log without interpretation as to the consistency of units between boreholes.
