Rotate the Model View

The real-world doesn’t always fit in a nice box aligned with the north-south axes. For those instances, EnviroInsite now includes a feature to rotate the model view axes. This is a document-scale feature so once activated it will be enabled in all additional plan views and x-section index maps. Click here for more news on model view rotation.

Exceedance Notification

There’s times when you want the details. Other times just the facts will do as in, Are we in-compliance or not? The new Exceedance Indicator feature of the EnviroInsite data tables does the latter – let you know in short order which wells are in or not in-compliance.

New Pallette

When you add several analytes to a pie chart, a bar chart, or a time-history chart EnviroInsite selects a set of default colors for you. We’ve incorporated a new pallette to assign these default colors as in the image at the right.

Geothermal Characterization of Coastal Aquifer near Ravenna

With the objective of defining the flow pattern within the aquifer and the exchange between surface and ground water, the authors characterized the temperature distribution in the shallow subsurface by means of a dense network of piezometers. At the same time they had the opportunity to characterize the phreatic aquifer from the geothermal point of view, so that it could eventually be considered for use as a “low enthalpy” heat source. The thickness of the surficial zone and the temperature at the top of the geothermal zone are essentially related to land use, distance from the sea, sediment type, and amount of interaction between surface and groundwater. A knowledge of these factors allows consumers to better exploit the geothermal potential of the aquifer when choosing the optimal placement of the heat pumps.

Originally written in 2002 as a tool for internal use at HydroAnalysis, the reaction of clients and other consultants made it clear that there was a need for a comprehensive and affordable data analysis tool tuned to the needs of environmental scientists and engineers working on hydrogeologic projects. Driven by continued internal use and testing and feedback from clients, the EnviroInsite feature set has grown rapidly as we continue to follow technical trends to make the program available to more people and easier to use than ever.
