EnviroInsite 2014:

Resolved image export issue.

On export of pdf files, some portion of the remaining image was being erased. On export of DXF files, the layout was not placed correctly on the page and on export of dwg files, inserted images were not being displayed correctly. These problems have been resolved.

Previously when saving to an image or copying a view to the clipboard EI automatically took whatever was in the window at that time. With this new code change, the user can select the window to be exported..

This feature enables the user to select a list of boreholes to exclude when generating modeled stratigraphy on a x-section

Previously EnviroInsite 2014 as of spring 2015 was unable to load a EI document that included a Stiff or Piper diagram. That prolem has been resolved..

Images had not been drawing on 3d surfaces. This has been resolved.

Program not correctly interpreting the number of image file pixels consequently resulting in the incorrect placement of images files that employ a world file.

X-sections that were redefined by moving a strike point were not being drawn correctly.

Allows EQuIS K’Nect users to select short-name option when plotting data tables. This feature uses the anl_short_name field of the rt_analyte table.

Some users were encountering error when accessing WMS server due to file permission restrictions. EI now checks for this condition and finds alternative folder if necessary.

EnviroInsite had been generating two context menus for the Active Data Grid. This problem has been resolved.

EnviroInsite will preferentially request images in State Plane coordinates, where available on server and whem State Plane coordinates presently in use.

The Flag value in the Observations table can be used to indicate whether a reported value was a non-detect or not. The Flag used to indicate non-detects can now be specified as a document property from the View – Options dialog box of the Plan view.

For particular conditions, small gaps would appear in fill contours or certain areas were drawn twice which was visible when the contours were drawn with transparency. These issues have been resolved.

Implemented 3d downhole chart feature for plotting downhole data not associated with a well screen. Typical applications include geophysical data or PID measurements.

Implemented 3d-rotate equivalent to constrained-orbit of AutoCAD for improved control of 3d-rotate. Also reduced superfluous screen redraws that were occurring following rotate action.

Previously dt_location.loc_name (if populated) was used as the plotted location id. Now users can select to use either dt_location.loc_name or sys_loc_code as the plotted location id. The selected field is saved with the document.

Reduced the number of redraws that occur when objects being dragged across screen or as objects are modified and redrawn. This reduces image blinking.

Under certain conditions the program would crash on plotting fill contours. This problem has been resolved.

A virtual points tab has been added to the 2d plan, 3d, and xs contour dialog box that controls the insertion of virtual data points to provide for additional control over contour plots.

Data tables legends generated with no standards selected were not displayed correctly.

Extraneous screen redraw was making it difficult to move legends when display is in 3d mode. This has been resolved.

This is a new feature showing the value of standard and the imposed formats in a standard moveable EI legend.

The boring log design window was moving text around after placement in order to align it on the grid. Next time the text was edited or on generation of boring logs the text string was being moved. This has been resolved.

Added hatch styles to polyline to make consistent with hatch styles available for boring log and stratigraphy.

EnviroInsite now allows EQuIS users to select the dt_well_segment.segment_type values that will be used in generation of well construction diagrams within boring logs.

When loading document, program had reported that @sClass not set to a value in GetReader. This problem has been resolved.

Modified selection of parameter for particle tracking, gradients, and post water level to conform to interface design in other similar single analyte plots. Also fixed problem that caused query to construct incorrectly when EQuIS Location Group is selected and plotting wells..

This error only occurs when connected to an EQuIS database on selection of parameters from the 3d contour plot.

The plotted label for wells and borings will now be the first non-null value between dt_location.loc_name and sys_loc_code. The preferred alternative is loc_name. The query design still relies on selection of sys_loc_code values as before.

By default the number of points between turning points had been set to 50. Users may now specify how many interpolation points between turning points. This will facilitate editing of stratigraphy since the number of points to be moved will be reduced.

Selection of constituents for radial diagram plot was causing error in calculation of default axes and resulting in program closing. This has been resolved..

Constituent Groups are designed to simplify the repeated selection of groups of constituents for charts, data tables, spider diagrams, and pie charts. Create groups by selecting Edit – Groups – Constituents and then select the group you want in the Query tab of the plotted object dialog box..

Previously, if shapefiles had been set to read-only privileges then the file would not plot. This has been resolved..

In those cases where a layout had been generated for a plan view, when documents were opened in EnviroInsite the x-section plan map was not being generated or was being generated with no content. This has been fixed.

Plots that required the calculation of water level elevation were resulting in error messages due to errors in the query. This has been resolved.

By default legends use the assigned text color for the object they are representing In some cases this might not be appropriate, as for instance when white text color is selected. This document-level option when selected causes all legends to use black text color.

Under some circumstances images placed in layouts were not being drawn. This fix overcomes that limitation.

Introduction of floating license allowing program to be installed anywhere. License file that tracks the number of users is installed to web server provided by HydroAnalysis.

Implemented fix for program error that was resulting in the program to crash when exiting the trend plot dialog box.

When the length units are modified in the View Options dialog box all existing map scales are now redrawn with the new length units. The length units in the x-section axes are also automatically changed to the new units.

Modified how the location type is handled. It will now use rt_location_type.location_type_desc. If rt_location_type has no rows then it will use the first non-null value of either dt_location.loc_desc or dt_location.loc_type.

Changed the logic in the identification of standards so that if you have not specified the fraction in dt_action_level_parameter or dt_action_level that this is interpreted as a wild card so that the fraction field value in dt_test will not cause table rows to be filtered out of a query. The same goes for the matrix value in dt_action_level_parameter and dt_action_level. This is in conformance with practice-recommendations from EarthSoft.

Previously, code has restricted users to selection of one matrix of fraction values. This has been relaxed with this new release. The program also correctly handles the loading of older EI documents where data tables had been created with a single Fraction or Media value.

Code had been reversed such that removing a check at Plot Non-Detects was causing only non-detects to plot. Also, the non-value text string was showing up for cells that did not contain exceedances when Plot Only Exceedances had been selected.

Previously axes within a boring log were reported as depths. Added capability allows users to add an elevation based axis to their boring logs. This release also included addition of new default WMS sources and elimination of WMS sources that were no longer functional.

Added Added Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient trend test capability. This supplements the existing Mann Kendall trend test. The desired trend test methodology may be selected from the trend test dialog box..

Added left-align and bottom-align buttons in both model and align view. This aligns selected objects. Also, added snap-to-grid feature in layout to assist in production of complex layouts. Certain conditions in the data file were prompting an error file. The program has been modified to handle these conditions without an error message.

Layouts were offset within the layout window relative to the print page. Likewise boring logs were offset in pdf files resulting from PDF-All command.

The default symbol color had been white. It’s now a visible brown color.

Prior to this fix, the EI document files when reloaded were not recalling the correct value of the plot trend feature in the time history charts.

Profile plots could not be created. This problem has been fixed.

EI had reported that data file was open in another application when trying to plot objects after plotting the boring locations. This error occurred on execution of steps in tutorial 5 of the tutorial document. This problem has been fixed.

This release resolves the error that caused exporting of blank image files.

Resolved a bug in routine that queried data to find the date limits of queried data in the time history charts.

Some users had experienced problems with large images and multiple cross-sections that were causing images to not appear in printed output and/or have the key map not appear in cross-sections. This problem has been resolved with the limitation that the brightness and contrast of images can no longer be edited within the program as they have in the past. To restore the old ability to edit image brightness and contrast select View – Options and place a check at Embed Image.

Fix for (1) shapefile export with objects off and (2) data flag posting in cross-tab data table plots

As of, the boring log template window did not allow boxes to be resized. This problem has been fixed.

This release incorporates the ability to save and then reload view templates. This allows the copying of plotted objects from one view to another via the xml template file.

(3) Prevent deletion of plan-view profile line if exists the associated active cross-section

Legends had not been displaying the correct number of digits after the decimal point.

There was a bug that under certain circumstances caused the State Plane zone to not be correctly restored on loading a document. This version corrects that error.

We have implemented a percent transparency property for inserted images, for images from Web Mapping Services and for inserted Bing Maps. This also works for draped images on 3d surfaces.
Fix implemented for a bug that was causing CAD files to not drape correctly when the drape option was selected when the file was first inserted.

We’ve implemented the scaled pie chart legend so that the pie chart appears in the legend along with the total concentration at the map scale size. We’ve also made it easier to add titles to the pie chart legend by adding them as a property set in the pie chart dialog box.
This version also includes a fix for the imported polyface routine.

Previously, the trend line style was tied to the line format of the original data. Now the trend line style may be independently selected. This may allow for the drawing of the original data with no line and a straight solid trend line.

EnviroInsite now has the ability to create named well groups that are selectable from the List button of the query tab of most plot types. Boring groups and well-screen groups are created by selecting Edit -> Location Groups -> Borings or Edit -> Location Groups -> Wells. The intent is to bypass the repeated selection of the same group of wells for multiple plots. Location groups are automatically saved to EI document files.

This release resolves a bug that caused the program to report that the data file was open in another application after plotting the stratigraphy model on a cross-section.

Fill colors were previously being dropped on first edit in the well construction dialog box. This problem has been resolved.

Both particle tracking and gradient arrows were not plotting in some circumstances due to the lack of a fraction selection option in each feature’s dialog box. This problem has been resolved.

We’ve added an option to allow for screen ids to be omitted from the title of georeferenced time-history charts. Look in the format tab for Show Screen in Title. Remove the check at this option to not show the screen in the graph title.

We’ve added the capability to make conversion from latitude-longitude to US State Plane coordinates. This will impact the following features:

1. Plot shapefiles whose data is in lat-long as either UTM (meters) or State Plane (ft)
2. Plot CAD files whose data is in lat-long as either UTM (meters) or State Plane (ft)
3. Insert Bing Maps or WMS images georeferenced to either UTM (meters) or State Plane (ft)
4. Plot well and boring coordinates, whose coordinates are specified in latitude and longitude, in either UTM or State Plane

The user selection of UTM or State Plane coordinates is under View Options. You can also set the UTM zone and State Plane Zones from the same dialog box. If you load wells in latitude or longitude or use the View->Go To feature then EnviroInsite will automatically select the appropriate zone based on the lat/long coordinates.

Minor bug fixes:

Fixed View->Reset Coordinates to select default horizontal and vertical query
Resolved problem that prevented the data file from being opened in MS Excel while EnviroInsite open

Two bugs have been resolved:
(1) Schoeller diagram would not plot
(2) Labels for the well construction diagram of the boring logs were intermittently not plotting

On completing a well plot with no wells selected, EnviroInsite would not allow the database to be accessed again. This has been resolved.

Added Browse function for “orphan” stratigraphy and boring records

We’ve added two new features to simplify the process of project exchange:

Zip Project – Collects the EI document, database, and all image files in a single zip file.

File Search option – This is an application-level option to direct EnviroInsite to look for files within the folder and subfolders of the EnviroInsite document if they are not found in the complete path described in the EnviroInsite document.

How do you handle transferring a project?

1. Create your EnviroInsite document (xml or vizx)
2. Select File -> Zip Project save the zip file a convenient location
3. Transfer the zip file to the new computer (Computer 2)
4. Unzip the files into a single folder or a folder and set of subfolders on Computer 2
5. Open EnviroInsite
6. Select File -> Application Settings
7. Place a check at “Search for files in document folder” and click OK
8. Select File -> Open and select the transferred document file (xml or vizx)

(1) the left-hand column in the contour interval selection had been mistakenly set to read-only
(2) the label location assignments in the Piper and Durov Diagrams were not being handled correctly in the dialog box

Fixed bug that caused x-section surface elevation to not plot correctly in cases where no well screens in database.

As described in Wikipedia, the Box-Whisker plot is a means of displaying differences between populations without making assumptions of the underlying statistical distribution ( The EnviroInsite Box and Whisker plots allow you to generate individual plot by-location or by-constituent.

The stratigraphy plots were not filtering based on the selected location Class. This has been fixed!

(1) Added ability to include subtitles in page-bound time history charts
(2) fixed bug – well list not populated for x-section stratigraphy
(3) fixed bug – incorrect contour line color where triangulation option selected

(1) Users can now create a vertical grid on time history charts. The grid color is the same as the left-axis color (for now).

The service pack release of EI2012 included the capacity for exported pdf files to turn on and off plotted objects as layers in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader. Unfortunately, the layer names sometimes did not correspond to the object names in the plot control tree and under certain circumstances the control in Adobe Acrobat did not work as expected disbelief. This problem has been resolved with this fix.

1. Center browse-data dialog boxes now open in the center of the parent window
2. Allow browse-data dialog boxes to remain open while performing other tasks
3. Changed the “no specified data” warning message to not stop program till OK button pressed
4. Improve editing of names of plot-control tree nodes

Previously, CAD files were not scaled correctly according to the specificied vertical exaggeration. This has been resolved.

EnviroInsite now has the capability of presenting data for non-vertical, inclined wells. The data files must be modified so that boring, stratigraphy, screen and well bottom horizon data must all be presented as depth values. The header columns should be changed accordingly, by replacing “Elevation” with “Depth” in Wells.[Well Bottom Elevation], Screens.[Top Elevation], Screens.[Bottom Elevation], Borings.[Top Elevation], Borings.[TopElevation], Borings.[Bottom Elevation], Stratigraphy.[TopElevation], and Stratigraphy.[Bottom Elevation]. There are also two new fields in the Wells tab: Azimuth and Incline. Azimuth relates the direction in which the well is inclined in degrees clockwise from due north. The Incline field stores the well angle in degrees relative to vertical.

Selecting File -> Export -> PDF now opens a print preview dialog that allows you to select the print window and set other pdf file properties. The generated pdf files are also smaller and allow for selection and editing of text in Adobe Acrobat.

The shapefile export was not working correctly for some plot types. This problem has been fixed.

Depths may now be entered as alternatives to the Wells.[Well Bottom Elevation], Screens.[Top Elevation], Screens.[Bottom Elevation], Borings.[Top Elevation], Borings.[Bottom Elevation], Stratigraphy.[Top Elevation], Stratigraphy.[Bottom Elevation]. To use depth-based fields substitute Depth for Elevation in the Field Name (if using Access) or the Column Header Title (if using Excel).

You can now select the symbol size and style for shapefile point objects. The shapefile point color will assigned to the same value as the specified line color.

(1) When opening the program from the Windows recent file list, an extra tab was being added to the document
(2) If additional stratigraphy or boring log records were added to the data file then the document might not load if created with the shorter data file.

Well labels were being posted for well plot objects even though the object visibility was turned off. This has been fixed in this release.

The Schoeller diagram routine had been selecting the last data point, ignoring user-specified options to select the Average, Min, or Max value. This problem has been resolved.
Case sensitivity in constituent and media has been eliminated in the selection of equivalent weight in Piper, Durov, and Stiff Diagrams

This resolves out of memory errors that occur when loading image files or using WMS or Bing Map objects.

We’ve made some changes that result in well and post value plots being generated more quickly.

Well objects with the no-leader option were not being restored correctly if the visibility was turned off. This has been fixed.
Also fixed problem with local date formats. The local date format is now passed with the document file as had in pre-service pack release.

The chart windows could not be renamed previously. This has been fixed. the windows can now be renamed by selecting View -> Options.
Have also fixed problem that was causing the keyboard shortcuts to not function correctly. New keyboard shortcuts include:

Alt – E – edit properties
ctrl-+ zoom in
ctrl – zoom out
ctrl-Z – undo
ctrl-W – zoom window
ctrl-S – Save document
Del – Delete selected object

This version enhances the control of date format in posted values and data tables to allow users to elect to include (or not) lead-zeros in months or dates. Therefore June 5, 2012 can be written as either 06/05/2012 or 6/5/2012. We also provide options to use either a single dash or a period to separate the day, month and year as in for instance 6.5.2012 or 6-5-2012.

We’ve also improved the output from PDF All Boring Logs. The new output uses the native pdf language to write lines or text instead of passing the pdf an image of the log. This allows users to edit text in the pdf of boring logs using Adobe Acrobat for fine tuning of boring logs. We also now provide a cover page for the boring logs.

We made the switch to Unicode when we released the EI2012 Service Pack. That should have enabled us to handle a larger set of characters. Unfortunately there was a glitch in the code that our testing had not caught that was causing it to not interpret the characters correctly. This has been fixed.

Also fixed incorrect handling of double-click on the scroll bar of the plot control tree window.

We have added a field to the Constituents table called Short Name. This field is presently only used in the data table feature. You’ll find an option in the Data Table dialog box allowing you to elect to use the contents of the Short Name or to use the full Constituent name. The field is optional. That is, old data files will work fine without adding the field. Populating the field is also optional. If you elect not to populate the field, then the program will always use the long name.

We have also added an option to allow you not to display shapefile object attributes in ToolTips.

Added option by which an exceedance in the Data Tables or Post Values objects may be triggered by a value that is greater than or equal to a particular standard. The option is set at the document scale by selecting View -> Options with an active plan view. Go to the Documents tab and select either “> standard value” or “>= standard value”.

(1) Empty cells in a cross-tab data table can now be filled with a user specified text string. The text string that will be used to fill empty cells “No Val Fill” is entered at the bottom of the Options tab of the data table dialog box. The default is an empty character string.
(2) Tabulate-by-depth tables, with the cross-tab and the show screen name options will plot the screen label to the left of the depth values.

(1) The image object dialog box had not been displaying the image path. This problem has been resolved.
(2) Added feature to allow draped CAD files to be offset vertically.

Implemented fix for bug that was causing mouse location to not appear when program first started.

(1) Redraw of data sections when data section size or margin changes
(2) Water level icon drawn to left of downhole axis labels

Previously, the program would stop working when encountering a Bing Maps object in an xml file. This problem has been resolved.

If users closed EnviroInsite when the program was minimized then on subsequent executions the program opened in the tool bar, but was not accessible. This bug has been resolved.

Multiple sampling rounds for a single depth were not being written to the correct column. Added sort-by-date to resolve problem.

Fixed ability to drag-and-drop fields into boring log design window.

Fixed to allow for selection of transparency of 3d contours and natural-neighbor of 2d contours.

Fixed problem in EI 2012 Service Pack whereby some multi-line text in boring logs were not displaying the final word. Also fixed this problem in the pre-Service Pack and numbered as version
